As we reflected on our career paths, we realized that we’d all climbed the corporate ladder - and gotten to the top - by adapting to patriarchal, oft antiquated leadership models that fundamentally misaligned with our values. And we weren’t alone. So many of our friends, other founders, and colleagues had similar stories.
Instead of commiserating about the stifling inauthenticity of the current paradigm, we decided this next era of our careers is about reclaiming what we value - community, culture, and collective success. We want people to have more choices about how, where, and why they work - whether that is as a fast-growth founder or a front-line employee.
We’ve chosen to leverage our credibility and influence to reinforce a set of common values wherever we are - whether at the helm of a Family Office, as operating partner for a PE firm, or as a C-Suite executive for a Fortune 100. That is the first objective of the Collective - to invite everyone to join in our commitment to role model and reinforce a set of core values in every workplace - core values designed to promote a culture that works for many, rather than a precious few.
This leads to the second part of our story. While we shape the broader ReCreate movement, we are going one step further to build, advise and invest in new ventures together. We chose to combine our know-how, experience, sweat and financial equity into new business opportunities. And what makes us different is that we will only work with, invest in, and build ventures that align with our values because we believe great culture = better business.
