When we started ReCreate, we kept coming back to the same idea. Most companies say their values out loud and then build everything else as if those values were optional. We wanted to do the opposite, and let values lead so that results follow.
What A Values First Culture Actually Means
A values first culture is not a poster in the break room. It is a set of decisions, made over and over, that put people and purpose ahead of short term wins. It shows up in how you hire, how you run a meeting, and how you handle the moment when doing the right thing costs something.
The founders who make up the Collective have each led inside large organizations. We have seen what happens when culture is treated as a nice to have, and we have seen the quiet cost it carries.
We are staunchly committed to (re)creating the paradigm of business success, in a way that works for all of us, not just some of us.
Three Practices We Rely On
Over time, a few practices have proven to matter more than the rest.
- Name the value behind a decision, so the reasoning is visible and repeatable.
- Reward the behavior, not only the outcome, so people trust that how they work counts.
- Make space to disagree early, so alignment is real rather than polite.
Where This Goes Next
This is the work, and it is ongoing. We will keep sharing what we learn here in the newsroom as we build companies with genuine societal impact and sustainable growth.
